Printmaking
a) What is the feeling you wanted your gum package to portray? How did you achieve this?
b) Who are you targeting your gum to? How did you achieve this?
c) What area in your design did you use Photoshop?
d) More marks are given to designs that are custom created and not just taken from free vectors or free stock photography. What part of your gum package did you custom design?
a) The feeling that I want people to feel is feeling abnormal…
b) My target audience is for older people who still feel back at their younger days
c) I used it in the text. I made a shadow underneath the text.
d) I don’t have a custom design.
3a) What qualities of your magazine cover make it effective? (eg. What makes it eye catching? What about it promotes curiosity? How is it visually pleasing? What makes it easy to understand?)
The eye catching thing on my magazine is how big & bolded the title letters are and also the 2 stars on the magazine cover. The thing about it that promotes curiosity is that the people would want to know what’s happening between the super divas so they would be up-to-date with the latest gossip to brag it out and also they would want to see celebrities at their worse & best. It’s visually pleasing to others because these celebrities are known for their singing & music so that their fans will be satisfied. It’s easy to understand because its simple and people are always about fashion & gossip nowadays.
3b) What was the order of hierarchy you were trying to achieve for the elements on your magazine cover?
1. Gwen Stefani & Rihanna
2. The title
3. The background
4. The secondary storyline
1. Will a 300 dpi image or a 72 dpi image would be clearer when printed out at the same size? How come?
I think the 300 dpi image will be clearer than the 72 dpi image when printed out because the 300 dpi image has more dots to work with than the 72 dpi image.
2. What would a picture at 1 dpi look like?
It would look like a square and blurred and it wouldn’t have any definition of what the picture would look like.
Fruit_Feather
Fruit_Combo
Fruit_Wand
Fruit_Lasso
1. What combination of tools did you use to isolate the fruit in “fruit_combo.jpg” and where in the image did you use which tool?
I used the polygonal lasso tool to get most of the background then I used the eraser tool at 3 point to get close to the fruit bowl as possible.
2. Of the methods you used to isolate the fruit in the 3 pictures. Which method did you find most effective in this case?
I’d say the magnetic lasso tool works faster than the other 2 because the magic wand takes up more time when you select the back ground to delete it doesn’t get everything.
3. Experiment with the following:
After you make a selection in the menu and go to
a) Select > Modify > Expand
b) Select > Modify > Contract
c) Select > Feather
What do these do? Post a fourth image indicating that you know what feathering does.
Expand makes the fruit bowl become bigger and Contact makes it smaller. Feather makes the picture have a glowing touch to it and also deletes the background.
